Drawn Roller Clutch

Drawn Roller Clutch

An inexpensive bearing type over-running clutch. The bearings roll in one direction and lock-up in the reverse direction.

These thin walled clutches are excellent options with the usage of hardened and ground shafting, versus standard shafting with a keyway, as on our other roller ramp clutches. Inner race shafts provided by the customer need to be at least 58 HRC, and +0/-.0005 tolerance. The applicable housing (be it sprocket, pulley gear, etc.), then must be press fit over the top of the one way clutch housing. Housing OD tolerance is +/-.0005.

These clutches are supplied as only the clutch (narrow version) or with each end incorporating a roller bearing (wider version), for housing support (see picture).

Standard English bores range from 1/8 up to 1”. These have torques ranging from 1 ft. lb. up to 34 ft. lbs. With volume applications, specials can be developed.

These light torque capacity clutches can handle extremely fast freewheeling speeds due to the incorporation of low friction components. These speeds range from 8,000 up to 50,000 RPM.
